The goals of the laboratory department at the Kickapoo Tribal Health Center are to provide patients with quality laboratory services within available resources. To insure the highest quality of laboratory services, the laboratory participates in American Proficiency Institute (API) Testing, Beckman Coulter QAP Hematology Program. The laboratory also maintains a Continuous Quality Improvement Plan.
The Kickapoo Tribal Health Center Laboratory maintains a Certificate of Compliance thru CLIA. We go thru a rigorous laboratory inspection from the State Health Department every 2 years to maintain our certification.
The laboratory performs many different tests including:
- Urinalysis and
- Cardiac Testing
For testing that is not performed by our lab, specimens are collected and sent to Diagnostic Lab of Oklahoma in OKC. The laboratory is staffed by Medical Technologists (MT) with ASCP certifications, Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) with ASCP certification and a Phlebotomist.
If a patient needs lab results faxed to another physician or copies, the patient will need to see the Health Information Management Department to sign release of information.
*Health Information Management is the department that manages all faxing/copying of patients results to other facilities due to HIPPA.
Patients who need "fasting labs" drawn should come to the laboratory without having eaten for at least 8 hours prior to blood collection; drinking water while fasting will not affect the fasting labs.
